Welcome to SignalWire! We’re excited to have you onboard. This is a quick reference guide with instructions on how to use SignalWire.
Note: If you are a moderator or a Room Manager you will have additional controls than mentioned in this guide.

Section 1: How to get started
Refer to this section if you need help signing in and/or joining a room.

Signing on
Click on the invite link to join the meeting.
Enter your name as you wish it to appear during the conference and your email address and click “Join”


You will be asked for the system to allow use of your audio and video.


On an Apple Mac it will pop up a window asking permission. Click “Allow” and “Continue”


The system will then ask you to choose the camera, microphone, and speaker. Close and save preferences.


Once on the main page click the “Join” button on any room to enter.

Section 2: All things room
When you are on a call you will see a room like the one in the screenshot below (sections labeled for reference).



Participant List
To the right of the four bars on the top right, you will see the Participant List icon:

If you click the icon, you will be able to see each person who is participating in the meeting.

Room Navigator
To the right of the Participant List on the top right, you will see the Room Navigator icon:

If you click the Room Navigator icon, you will be able to see which rooms are available to you, and toggle to each one.



Invite other people to join
When sending an invitation to a guest, click on the Invite button located on the top left of your room:

It will open a dialogue box with options to copy invitation links. These links can be used by a guest to join the meeting.

You can also invite existing users to your meeting.
Click on the room navigator button on the top right.
Click the invite button below your room preview.


This opens a box with options of all ongoing meetings and available rooms.


You can then select specific people to invite them to your room.

Transfer to other rooms
Similar to inviting a user, you may also transfer yourself or other or all to other rooms.
Click on the room navigator button on the top right:

Find the room you want to transfer to and click on the transfer button.


This opens a box with names of all participants in your current room.


You can then select specific or all people you want to transfer to the other room.

Leave Room
In order to leave the meeting, you must push the “Leave Room” button located at the bottom left of the screen:

This will then take you to the home screen.

Section 3: In-room features

Main Menu/ Hamburger Menu
You will see the main menu by clicking on the below icon located on the top right:

Mute Function
On the bottom right corner of your screen, you will see the mute function:


When you are muted, the icon changes to:



When you click on the arrow next to the mute button, you will see the following menu:


This menu tells you which microphone input you are using, which speaker input you are using, allows you to remove background noise from your audio and enables push to talk.

Video Function
To the right of your mute button on the bottom right corner, you will see the stop video tool:


When video is turned off, the icon changes to:


When you click on the arrow next to the video button, you will see the following menu:



This menu allows you to see which camera input you have selected. It also allows you to mirror your video, select low bitrate mode to better your conference video quality when experiencing poor internet quality, and allows you to turn on and off your display banner.

Video Settings
Video Settings icon located at the bottom menu bar towards the centre:


It allows you to change your video settings on your computer screen.

This will allow you to choose picture in picture, which shows the conference in the bottom right corner of your screen for you to work while seeing the conference at the same time.



This function also allows you to make the conference full screen, and the video itself full screen.

Share Screen
In order to share your screen, you can click the share screen button at the bottom menu bar in the centre:


This will open up the settings to allow you to choose which tab/ application/ internet tab you would like to share in the conference.


You can also add additional devices like another monitor to share your screen with when you click the arrow next to the share screen button.



Chat Box
You are able to chat with other participants in your conference by clicking the Chat Button on the bottom far right hand corner of your screen:


Type any messages you would like your colleagues to see and they will be able to write back.



Section 4: Advanced in-room features

Raise Hand
You are able to raise your hand in the conference by pressing the “raise hand button” next to the screen share button in the bottom menu bar in the centre:


This will highlight your picture, notifying the lead of the conference you would like to share something.


You will then be able to lower your hand by pressing the “lower hand” button.



Do Not Disturb or “DND”
You can enter Do Not Disturb mode by clicking the DND button next to the raise hand button in the bottom menu bar in the centre:

This causes both your video and sound to be muted (your screen will be greyed out to the rest of the participants in the conference).
In order to exit DND mode, just simply press the “Disable DND” button and you will rejoin the conference.

Section 5: Get Help

Helpdesk
Use the Help icon that is on the top right hand corner of the screen:

If you are having issues with anything within the SignalWire Platform, click this button, and you will be able to live chat with our support staff.



Best Practices
Browser:
For laptops use Chrome updated to the latest Chrome release
For tablets use Safari updated to the latest release

Possible Blockers:
If your organization uses a VPN, try turning off the VPN and try again.

Experiencing Difficulties
If you experience difficulties getting into the SignalWire Work Site:
Try a different browser
Try clearing your cache

Internet Connection
If you do not have a stable connection, the below icon will appear on the top left of your video thumbnail:


"[Low bitrate mode](/en-us/article/what-is-the-function-of-low-bitrate-mode-7sofrn/)" will automatically be enabled. This will stabilize your connection to be able to participate in the meeting.
